This item is a worksheet/assessment on inertia for students of introductory physics. It contains 18 drawings of a block-like object. The object is depicted both at rest and in various types of motion. Differing forces are applied to the block, and students are asked to sketch all the forces acting on the object, as well as the appropriate vector arrows. This assessment was developed to accompany a related educator's guide for teaching a unit on the topic of Newton's First and Third Laws. SEE RELATED ITEMS on this page for a link to the educator's guide. This item is part of a larger collection of resources and pedagogic materials developed by the Modeling Instruction project at Arizona State University.

This is an activity about structures in space. Learners will construct two different types of trusses to develop an understanding of engineering design for truss structures and the role of shapes in the strength of structures. For optimum completion - this activity should span 3 class periods to allow the glue on the structures to dry. This is engineering activity 1 of 2 found in the ISS L.A.B.S. Educator Resource Guide.

In this lesson, students will work with math manipulatives to understand that it takes 10 tenths of something to make one whole. They will use manipulatives with money (dimes), fractions (one tenth pieces), and base ten blocks (rods) to show different values. They will express values with combinations of the given manipulatives and draw their solutions. This is lesson one in a three lesson unit. Lesson two (HAPPY HUNDREDTHS) deals with hundredths and lesson three deals with combining and solving problems with tenths and hundredths (SHOPPING WITH TENTHS AND HUNDREDTHS).
