Advanced Placement Biology Investigative Labs: An Inquiry-Based Approach Introduction (For teachers and for students)
Rating

How to use a different approach to teaching biological concepts using inquiry-based investigations for students to develop reasoning skills essential to the science practices used throughout their study of biology. A more student-directed, inquiry-based lab experience supports the AP Biology course revision and curricular requirements by providing opportunities for students to design plans for experiments, data collection, application of mathematical routines, and refinement of testable explanations and predictions. The investigations are organized under four big ideas entitled: (1) evolution, cellular processes; (2) energy and communication; (3) genetics and information transfer; and (4) interactions.
