In this online activity, learners role-play as medics, treating a patient with missing organs. Learners select different organs, then drag them into the proper location in the patient's body. System by system, they put the patient back together. When learners set up a free account at Kinetic City, they can answer bonus questions at the end of the activity as a quick assessment. As a larger assessment, learners can complete the Smart Attack game after they've completed several activities.

Learners complete two simple experiments to prove the existence of air and air pressure which surround us. First, they push an inverted cup into water; the air in the cup prevents water from entering. Then, they try to flip up a meter stick covered by paper; the air above the paper pushes down and prevents the stick from moving easily. These can also be used as demonstrations. When learners set up a free account at Kinetic City, they can answer bonus questions at the end of the activity as a quick assessment. As a larger assessment, learners can complete the Smart Attack game after they've completed several activities.

Learners draw pictures of how they envision scientists. By comparing and discussing the features in their pictures, they can discover common thoughts and stereotypes about scientists. The activity includes links to websites showing a great diversity of scientists. Learners can view and discuss, to expand how they envision scientists--and potentially picture themselves as scientists. When learners set up a free account at Kinetic City, they can answer bonus questions at the end of the activity as a quick assessment. As a larger assessment, learners can complete the Bug Blaster game after they've completed several activities.

Learners discover that their breath contains carbon dioxide, one of the pollutants found in car exhaust. They blow bubbles into water, then use an indicator (bromothymol blue) to see that the water has become acidic, much the same way that rain becomes acidic from pollution in the atmosphere. Instructions are included to make another indicator from cabbage juice which can be substituted in the activity. When learners set up a free account at Kinetic City, they can answer bonus questions at the end of the activity as a quick assessment. As a larger assessment, learners can complete the Smart Attack game after they've completed several activities.

In this online activity, learners partner up to complete several physical exercises and assess their starting fitness level. Over the course of 6 weeks, learners practice the activities and record their improvement. This is a simple way to get young learners interested in practicing fitness. When learners set up a free account at Kinetic City, they can answer bonus questions at the end of the activity as a quick assessment. They can also keep track of their progress in all of the Kinetic City activities, and compare their progress to other participants worldwide.

In this version of tag, a large group of learners model how the body fights infection. Learners act as germs, as lymphocytes, and as the body's cells threatened by germs. After playing one round, subsequent rounds can use different numbers of germs and/or lymphocytes to see how the infection rate is changed. When learners set up a free account at Kinetic City, they can answer bonus questions at the end of the activity as a quick assessment. They can also keep track of their progress in all of the Kinetic City activities, and compare their progress to other participants worldwide.

Learners practice their taxonomy skills by sorting a group of fasteners (e.g. rubber bands, buttons, paper clips, screws) into different categories. First they split the group into two groups based on function, then further divide these groups into smaller groups based on other criteria. In a second sorting activity, learners divide the fasteners into two groups based on appearance, and further subdivide. When learners set up a free account at Kinetic City, they can answer bonus questions at the end of the activity as a quick assessment. As a larger assessment, learners can complete the Smart Attack game after they've completed several activities.

Learners model the Sun-Earth-Moon system to show what causes the Moon's appearance to change when viewed from the Earth. One learner acts as the Earth, and holds a model of the Moon arm's length away. Another learner acts as the Sun and shines a flashlight on the Moon. In a darkened room, the learner acting as the Earth rotates and can see the different phases of the Moon as its position relative the Sun and Earth changes. When learners set up a free account at Kinetic City, they can answer bonus questions at the end of the activity as a quick assessment. As a larger assessment, learners can complete the Smart Attack game after they've completed several activities.

In this online game, learners build complicated machines to complete simple tasks. The game starts with a power source on one side of the screen and the task on the other side. Learners select machine parts to link together and complete the task. The machine parts follow simple physics rules. When learners set up a free account at Kinetic City, they can answer bonus questions at the end of the activity as a quick assessment. As a larger assessment, learners can complete the Bug Blaster game after they've completed several activities.

In this online activity, learners measure their pulse rates and investigate how their pulses change when they engage in different activities. Learners record their pulse rates at rest, after moderate exercise and after vigorous exercise. The activity encourages learners to participate in the other Kinetic City Science Gym activities and then return to this activity to see how their pulse rates have changed, if at all. When learners set up a free account at Kinetic City, they can answer bonus questions at the end of the activity as a quick assessment. They can also keep track of their progress in all of the Kinetic City activities, and compare their progress to other participants worldwide.

In this physical activity, groups of learners act as blood cells traveling through the circulatory system. They model picking up oxygen at the lungs, traveling through the heart, and delivering oxygen to a leg muscle. From the leg muscle they pick up carbon dioxide, travel through the heart and deliver carbon dioxide to the lungs so it can be expelled. Learners are encouraged to repeat the activity and time themselves as a contest. When learners set up a free account at Kinetic City, they can answer bonus questions at the end of the activity as a quick assessment. They can also keep track of their progress in all of the Kinetic City activities, and compare their progress to other participants worldwide.

In this online game, learners run an outer space drink stand and thirsty alien customers are on the way. Learners can see the likes and dislikes of the approaching customers and mix their drink appropriately to make a profit. The game gets more challenging as different customers can sometimes have conflicting tastes. This is an excellent model for business and economics. When learners set up a free account at Kinetic City, they can answer bonus questions at the end of the activity as a quick assessment. As a larger assessment, learners can complete the Bug Blaster game after they've completed several activities.

In this online activity, learners can test their skills at finding constellations in the northern hemisphere's night sky. Learners can choose during which season to look, and then look for four constellations in that season. The simulation shows a simple representation of the night sky with key stars highlighted. Use this as a practice before going outside or just to give learners an idea of the difficulties involved in identifying constellations. When learners set up a free account at Kinetic City, they can answer bonus questions at the end of the activity as a quick assessment. As a larger assessment, learners can complete the Smart Attack game after they've completed several activities.

Learners work together as a group to learn a new physical activity. After working for a few rotations, learners time themselves as part of a contest. Learners can use this activity to reflect about how the body learns, and how muscles can begin to act automatically with practice. Learners look at labels on items in the room to determine where each item was manufactured, then write about the item on an index card. Learners then use string to connect the index card to the place on a world map showing where in the world it was manufactured. This is an excellent activity to teach geography, global interdependence, and also data representation. When learners set up a free account at Kinetic City, they can answer bonus questions at the end of the activity as a quick assessment.
